Anyone can act on your behalf, as long as there is submitted a mandate form. The person acting on your behalf is called a proxy. What type of help the proxy can provide is stated in the mandate form. Usually a proxy will have the right to write letters, partake in meetings and speak on behalf of the representing party. If you want the proxy to have the ability to sign settlements agreements for you as well, it must be stated in the mandate form. The form must be signed by the part providing the mandate.
You can find the mandate form here (English).
